This Post will be about the Australian field hockey player Casey Sablowski. Casey is a very talented Hockey player and usually plays as a midfielder, made her debut for the Australia Woman’s National Hockey Team, commonly referred to as the Hockeyroos, at age 17. She was also selected to play in the Under-21s team to compete in the Junior World Cup in 2005 at just age 16. After making the 2008 Beijing Olympic team, Sablowski was described by Australian coach, Frank Murray, as possibly becoming the best player in the world.

Since making her debut, she has been a key member of the Hockeyroos. She scored four goals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and at the 2009 Women’s Champions Trophy in Sydney, Sablowski again scored four goals making her the second highest goal scorer at the tournament and Australia’s highest goal scorer. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, she was a member of the Australian team that won the gold medal by defeating New Zealand 4–2 on penalty strokes. In 2016, she played in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Casey Sablowski is a very successful Hockey player and is a very valued member of the Hockeyroos.

Life on a Farm

A long time ago, before technology and before social media there was a girl. Now she was a simple girl and her life was quite ordinary, she had two brothers Ben and Harry and a Mum and a Dad and they all lived together on a Farm, her name was Sarah. She had short brown hair and bright sparkling blue eyes she was an average height and was very smart for a girl at age 11, but she was different. Every day she would get up do her chores, go to school, get home, do more chores, have dinner and go to bed everyday was a repeat of the last, and nothing ever changed. But one day it did.

It was a bright sunny morning and Sarah had just gotten up to do her chores, she fed the chickens, she fed the pigs, she made the breakfast and she got dressed for school.

“Good Morning Sarah” Yelled Sarah’s Dad stomping through the front door after milking all the cows.

“Shhhh Dad Mum and the boys are still asleep” Sarah whispered.

“Seriously, there still in bed” Sarah’s Dad whispered back rolling his eyes “well at least you take after me” He laughed.

Sarah loved her parents very much, but for some reason she always felt closer to her Dad. Sarah always knew she took after her Dad mainly because they both shared the same work ethic, but also because truthfully Sarah always felt like her Mum didn’t love her as much and just treated her like a slave.

“Sarah have you made breakfast your brothers are hungry” Sarah’s Mum yelled stumbling down the stairs.

“Yes Mum, Eggs and Bacon” Sarah replied.

“Hi love, hope I didn’t wake you” Her Dad said to her Mum kissing her on the forehead.

“Yes you did wake me up” Her mum groaned angrily while she sat down at the kitchen table and taking a bite out of one

of her eggs.

” Oh my god” Screamed Sarah’s mum spitting out the egg “Sarah you horrible child this egg is burnt”.

“Sorry I must of left it on the stove when I went to the bathroom” Sarah relied apologetically.

“That is no excuse young lady you could of poisoned me” Sarah’s mum screeched

“Now calm down love, she obviously didn’t mean to burn it, don’t you think you are being just a tad overdramatic” Sarah’s dad said coming to Sarah’s rescue.

“Don’t you defend her, she should be smart enough to know how to cook eggs” Sarah’s mum screamed back.

“Mum stop, it was an accident, and maybe if you didn’t rely on your eleven year old daughter every morning to make breakfast and just made it yourself then maybe it wouldn’t be burnt” Sarah yelled, she was shocked with what she had just said to her mother and obviously her mother was as well with the look of astonishment that swept across her face when Sarah had finished.

Hey Guys I just realised I have been posting a lot of stuff lately that has had nothing to do with Hockey, so here are 10 Facts About Field Hockey.

1)The original name of Field Hockey is “Shinty”.

2)There are only right handed hockey sticks. The left handed hockey sticks are not allowed

3)There are three different ways to score in Field Hockey – field goal, penalty corner and penalty stroke.

4)Players can be substituted as many times and at any time in the game

5)Field Hockey is played by over a 3, 000, 000 players spread over 100 countries and 5 continents

6)Along with Soccer and Cricket, Field Hockey is the 3^rd most watched sport of the world.

7)Field Hockey can be played both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor hockey has 10 players plus a goalkeeper for each team, whereas in the indoor hockey there are 4 players plus a goalkeeper for each team.

8)The modern game grew from Scotland in the early 19th century.

9)Field Hockey has the fastest speed of swing, even more than golf and baseball.

10)To consider a field hockey game as an official game, it must be played on FIH approved turf which can be grass, astro turf or water based turf.

#GameOn is a online safety video acted out by lower-secondary school students to show the dangers of the internet.

This video has accurately shown how the internet can be a dangerous place and that you always need to be carful, it has also shown the result of gaming addictions and how it affects peoples lives.

In the video it shows how sharing your social media passwords can be risky, as then people will have full access to your account and will be able to change and adjust it however they want which usually has a bad result.

It also shows how spreading photos of your face on the internet can be dangerous because then people will have access to photos of you and then can do whatever they want with them, and can post share them around to random strangers who will then have photos of what you look like.

The video also has a young boy who is all excited because he has found a new website that gives him free ringtones and all he has to do is give the website his details and he will have a bunch of free ringtones, WRONG. Little did this kid know that the website then started charging his parents $10.00 a week for the ringtones, just because something says its free doesn’t mean it is.

As well as all that it shows us the result of gaming addiction. It demonstates 2 young boys who stay up half the night every night playing online video games. As a result they become tired at school and fall asleep in class with then results with their parents being called and having to have a meeting with the boys school teachers.

The video lets out a very good message about safety on the internet and I enjoyed watching it very much, and would defiantly recommend all my followers to go and watch it as well.

Netiquette is the rules of etiquette that apply when communicating over computer networks, especially the Internet.

10 Examples of Netiquette rules are:

1)Avoid Sarcasm

Being sarcastic on the internet is a lot harder than what it is in person, and the person your talking to might not fully understand what your trying to say and could take it the wrong way, so its just easier to avoid it all together.

2)Respect others Privacy

When your on the internet privacy is very important, and if there is certain information your friend or family member does not want to share it is always best to respect their privacy.

3)Identify yourself

When talking on the internet it is always best to identify yourself by stating who you are before or after speaking so people know who they are talking to.

4)Don’t write in all capitals

on the internet writing in all capitals is considered yelling e.g. YELLING which is why it is better to just stick to writing in the proper font.

5)Watch your language

Being on the internet means that there could be a large variety of people watching what your saying, all of them different ages which is why you always need to watch what you say and how you say it.

6)Don’t gossip on the internet

Using the internet is a privilege and it is not nice to say things about other people all over the internet, it is called gossiping and could also be considered cyber bullying.

7)Just because its free doesn’t mean its safe

Just because something on the internet says its free doesn’t mean it is, most of the time what you see on the internet is false and it is best to avoid because It may just be a scam to discover your personal information.

8)Do not reveal private information online

One of the main things to remember when your on the internet its that you never reveal your personal information, as someone could see it and potentially do something bad with it.

9)What you post online stays online forever

When you post something online it stays online and you always need to remember that before you post a photo or a comment because once you post it, it is there forever.

10)Be careful opening mail from unknown sources

Always be carful when opening mail from unknown sources because you don’t know if the email could have a virus or just be a scam, so it is just best to avoid opening mail from unknown recipients.

This is the blog of Holstar345. And this post is a post about the advantages and disadvantages of technology. In modern society technology is used a lot in everyone’s daily lives, and in most situations technology is a good tool to have, but what about the times when it isn’t.

Advantages

The advantages of technology can range from a whole bunch of things such as, making things quicker, for example researching. Technology has made researching so much easier and now if you need important information you don’t have to look it up in a book but you can just easily look it up on your laptop or computer.

Modern Technology has also helped people with reading and writing problems. Sadly there are people in the world who struggle with reading and writing and modern technology is what helps them improve in their work.

Now one of the main reasons technology has become such an important part of our lives is because not only is a laptop or computer full or information and researching tools but it is also full of fun games and entertainment. Technology is used a lot for games and movies to entertain people, now this could also be considered a disadvantage because sure it does entertain people but it also keeps people inside all day sitting on their laptops or computers.

 

Disadvantages

Now even though technology has a lot of advantages it also has a lot of disadvantages such as gaming addictions. There are people that become addicted to the games and they play on their laptop or computer and not only does it keep people from socializing with their friends but it keeps them locked inside a house sitting down and lying around all day.

Technology has also been the reason so many people have lost their jobs for example most of the things people get payed to do are now in tutorials or wiki how websites on the internet which enables people to just do it themselves. This then causes people to go out of business and employees lose their jobs.

Technology has also been the cause of cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is a major issue in the world now because if it’s not bad enough to get bullied, people then go on their laptops of phones and bully people from behind a screen. This not only hides their identity but everything they say on the internet stays on the internet, so if people didn’t have technology, sure there would still be bullies but at least there wouldn’t be cyberbullies

So that is what I think are some of the Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology, so just remember that yes technology has its advantages but it also has its disadvantages.
